Design and its processes have forever been about rules: perfect hierarchy, just the right balance of white space, proportional type… But who made these rules, and who upholds them? Do they inherently constitute “good” design? And, perhaps most interestingly, what happens if we break them?
Aiming to turn common design conceptions on their heads, this manifesto-as-publication does the opposite of what typical manifestos do: establish rules. These documents are about questioning what we know, and embracing what we don’t; they’re about experimentation as progress.
